Dr. Christine C. Wacta is an African born French Architect who holds a license of Architecture, D.P.L.G Paris-la-Defense (France), and a Master of Architecture from the University of Minnesota (2001). She has worked as intern-architect in Dresden Germany, Paris, France and Minneapolis, Minnesota and most recently taught Architecture at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Dr. Wacta has received training in Cameroon , France , Germany and the U.S.A . As a result, she has a globally rich background from traveling and living around the globe. Her position as an educator has allowed her to successfully implement an enriched, multinational competence allowing her to excel on multiple platforms. As a visionary leader, Dr. Wacta brings over 16 +years of experience as an educator to Design, Geo Spatial thinking, and the creation of Geo Spatial-Enabled and Applied curriculums. She believes that Design education and education as a whole can no longer meet the complex issues of society UNLESS it embraces the next-generation’s mindset and tools, an idea that ultimately led her to develop the “Gamifying education” concept.
Dr. Wacta’s research interests have exposed her to new techniques in the urban approach and afforded her a unique position for dealing with challenging topics as a reflection of the complexity of the environment.
“GeoEduGAMING meets the needs of the contemporary student of the next-generation through the use of personal mobile devices which are the main forms of communication and content management outside the classroom.”
“The ‘game’ is used as a strategy to help formulate problems and propose informed solutions. Where the classic teaching methods utilizing prescriptive curriculum have failed, GeoEdu-GAMING defines physical and mental competition conducted in a Geo-digital context according to the mechanisms of the game”
“We help schools and communities better understand and use data to make wise choices, increase educational opportunities, and create a more just and sustainable world.”
Her interest in the “intelligent city” and resilience led her to co-found GeoSpatial Design enterprise (www.geogen.io) and design curriculum support structures to bring application & testing-based processes into Design education and practice.
Dr. Wacta is driven by Cross & Trans-disciplinary exchanges in varied platforms. COLLABORATION-TESTING-APPLICATION in a DATA-driven and technologically augmented settings are some of her areas of expertise. Because the idea of “intelligent cities” evolves from intelligent dwellers, it is urgent that cities reach the technical intelligence and resilience that transforms them into a “TECHNI-CITY”.
Dr. Wacta believes that there is an emerging NEW discipline that parallels Architecture and Urban Design, a discipline that emerges as a strong link to many disciplines on a collaborative platform. Spatialization as applied to computational Urbanism , the use of IoT, and BiG DATA, provides a platform that augments Designer and other stakeholders’ abilities to make informed decisions in the creation of RESILIENT future Techni-CITIES.Dr. Wacta believes that there is an emerging NEW discipline that parallels Architecture and Urban Design, a discipline that emerges as a strong link to many disciplines on a collaborative platform.
